I have a curse. I am a *huge* fan of cartoons, comics and animation. But I can't draw for the life of me.

I've come to find this out over the past ten weeks. For my Visual Production Design Class, I had to come up with a story and then tell the story using only picture and sound. No dialogue, no song lyrics. Well, the story I came up with was pretty complex. It involves a dance club, a ghostly woman in white, a high school prom, a car crash and an empty city street. Because it was so logistically complex, I decided what the heck, I'll just draw it. That'll be okay, right?

Wrong.

Every attempt to draw has fallen short. I simply don't have the ability to convey in drawings what I have in my head. And so, I have come to accept this fact.

I have also accepted the fact that photographs are my canvas. Photography, I understand and can (kinda) do. And as such, I've got two weeks to figure out how the hell to shoot this thing. Worse case scenario, I go to a night club with a couple friends and just do it. I'm learning to be a filmmaker, after all. And what is filmmaking but constant problem solving?

But I'm glad I've come to learn this about myself. I'm not a cartoonist or a comic artist and I never will be. I have all the respect and admiration in the world for you guys, but it's just not my lot in life to join your ranks.

But I DO have film. And this I will use to the best of my ability.
